CLUB MEETINGS
The next Club meeting is taking place on Thursday 1 March.
Meet at The Northumberland Arms in West Allotment for 7.30pm.
Happy to report that Chairman Billy is now back home following his recent operation. We all hope that it is not too long before he is back to health. His shop, Billy’s Fishing Tackle, is still open for business as usual.
The Club’s annual presentation night is taking place on Saturday 11 February. Meet in the upstairs function room at The Northumberland Arms, West Allotment from 7.30pm. All members and their partners are most welcome. A free buffet is being provided.
Membership packs for 2012 are now available from Billy’s shop and committee members. The packs contain the club rules and fixture list. Members are reminded that subs for 2012 must have been paid before any match can be fished.
It has been decided that a weekend away at Portpatrick will be arranged from Friday 31 August to Sunday 2 September. Accommodation will be arranged and it is planned to book a boat for the Friday for those members interested in a days boat fishing. If interested in going please contact a committee member. NB - the FULL COST of this trip will have to be paid by the club’s April meeting.
Port of Tyne have advised that some anglers when fishing from Tynemouth Pier are leaving fish hooks, fishing lines and old bait in the yellow rubbish bins provided under the arches. Members are instructed that any such items should be removed from the pier altogether as they pose a health and safety issue. Any general rubbish may be bagged and left in the bins.
Local angling correspondant Alan Charlton has asked that club members may care to consider signing a petition to help Sussex Sea Anglers. IT COULD BE US NEXT!!!!
Rother District Council proposes two bye-laws that firstly ban fishing on the beach in a designated area from 9.00 to 18.00, from 1st May to 30th September. The Council also propose a second bye-law that forbids fishing 'in such a manner as to cause danger, obstruction or annoyance to any person using the seashore'. This applies to the WHOLE of Rother shoreline e.g. Pevensey Bay, Herbrand Walk, Bexhill and Pett Level to Camber.
Sussex sea anglers and their supporters say that this is unreasonable and unacceptable. Sussex Sea Anglers do not accept banning groups of beach users as a constructive way of engaging with the local community or visitors to the areas, whether they are fishing, riding a horse or walking a dog.
Say NO to these bye-laws and call on the council to remove them.

FORTHCOMING MATCHES 2012
Members are reminded that registration and fishing times for matches is as follows -
(A) Saturday, Sunday and Thursday (midweek) matches - meet at the Tynemouth Pier attendant’s blue hut no later than 8.30am to register and for peg draw. Fishing will be from 9.00am to 2.45pm winter months and 9.00am to 3.45pm summer months.
(B) Nighthawk matches - meet no later than 6.15pm for registration at The Rendezvouz Cafe car park, Whitley Bay. Fishing will be 6.45pm to 10.30pm. Weigh-in back at the Rendezvouz car park no later than 11.00pm.
(C) Pleasure Matches - no need to register. Access to Tynemouth Pier from 9.30am. Members must be off the Pier by 3.00pm winter months and 4.00pm summer months.
